2 People Found Dead In Perry South Vehicle

PERRY SOUTH (KDKA) – Police are investigating after two young men were found shot to death in a vehicle in Perry South Thursday morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, the victims were found in a vehicle near the intersection of Buena Vista Street and Perrysville Avenue around 6 a.m.

"This morning about 6 a.m., a pedestrian was walking down Buena Vista Street when they noticed a blue Chevy HHR on the side of the road with one of the windows broken out and two unresponsive black males inside," Pittsburgh Police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki said.

Investigators have identified the victims as 21-year-old Matthew Burton, whose last known address was in the Hill District, and 15-year-old Deondre Kenny. Police say Burton may have been a member of a group know as the Brighton Heights Crypts.

Even before that person called 911, someone walked into Zone 1 on the North Side to report gunshots around 3 a.m.

Neighbors also reported hearing the gunfire.

"Around 3 o'clock, 3:15 a.m. this morning, I heard two to three loud gunshots go off a little bit down from my hill on Buena Vista and I looked out the window and I saw a blue SUV-like station wagon type go flying up the hill with the glass shot out," Tim Edwards said.

"Both victims were shot in the head area and in the chest," Stangrecki said.

Police believe that the shooting did take place where the vehicle came to rest. Police are currently focusing on identifying the victims and locating those responsible for the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pittsburgh Homicide Detectives at (412)-323-7161.
