State Police Probe Deadly Mercer County Accident

LAKE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police in Mercer County say charges are expected to be filed following a late night accident that claimed one man's life.

Authorities say the crash happened around 11 p.m. Saturday on Fredonia Road near Fairlamb Road in Lake Township.

In a news release, state police described the crash as "homicide by vehicle while DUI."

Investigators say Audra Brown, 32, of North Carolina, and a passenger were headed west on Fredonia Road in a Honda Accord when she failed to negotiate a sharp curve in the road.

According to state police, the car traveled off the road and into a field where it started to spin out and then rolled over.

The passenger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Mercer County Coroner's Office, officials said.

The victim has not yet been identified, but authorities say he was 27-years-old.

State police say Brown suffered moderate injuries in the crash. She was first taken to the Grove City Medical Center and then taken by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital.

State police are continuing to investigate the incident, and say "charges will be filed at a later date."
