PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – MLBTradeRumors.com writer Ben Nicholson-Smith joined the guys on The Fan Morning Show on Friday to discuss possible Pirates trade rumors as we approach the July 31 deadline.

Ben thinks the Pirates are legit contenders and will be active players at the deadline, but they won’t part with top tier prospects which will probably keep them out of the race for guys like Zach Greinke, Matt Garza and Cole Hamels.

Ben thinks the Pirates will end up making a deal for a bat and that could possibly be Josh Willingham. The Pirates also have been linked to Padres OF Carlos Quentin and 3B Chase Headley.
