Kent Tekulve Breaks Down First Half Of Pirates Season

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Former Pirates pitcher, Kent Tekulve joined the Fan Morning Show on Monday to talk about they Pirates unofficial first half of the season.

'Teke" tells us that the order of the pitching rotation after the All-Star break causes differing opinions from everyone, but managers have their reasons for doing it, whether it be performance based, or injury based.

Erik Bedard is in the middle of a rough stretch of starts. Kent says that the Pirates will need him to pick up his game and get some good starts to keep the momentum going after the All-Star break.

The Pirates' offense has been stellar in the last month and a half after being abysmal in the first two months of the season. With that said, the pitching staff was one of the best in baseball early, but has fallen off a bit of late.

The hitting will not continue at the current pace all season long, but if the team has balance, they will still compete for the division.

Finally, Teke tells us about the All-Star Game and Andrew McCutchen's inclusion in the Home Run Derby.
