Man Charged After Fight With Brother, Standoff In Brookline
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — One man is facing charges following a standoff in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood.
Police were called Saturday evening to a home in the 2000-block of Plainview Avenue.
According to police, two brothers got into a fight just before 7 p.m. and one grabbed a firearm and hit the other, who then fled outside.
Police surrounded the home and spent hours of trying to contact the man.
They then learned he could be hiding out at a nearby home.
That’s where they found 19-year-old Deon Rooney of Carrick and took him into custody.
Police talked about the injuries to his 22-year-old brother.
“He’s fine physically, but with the altercation and being hit with a firearm and then having a firearm pointed at him, he was visibly shaken up from that,” said Commander Scott Schubert, of Pittsburgh Police.
Rooney will be charged with aggravated assault, firearms violations and other counts.
Police say a second person was also taken into custody after he ran up to the house while police were securing the scene. That person was cited.
