Fayette Co. Kidnapping Plot Suspect Maintains Innocence

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A woman accused of kidnapping another woman's baby last week, was in court Tuesday.

Yvonne Bradley is accused of kidnapping a 3-month-old baby after convincing the child's mother that she wanted the baby to be in a Huggies commercial.

Bradley's hearing was postponed today, but she made a desperate plea to defend herself.

"I'm sorry she's upset, if she would have looked at the note she would have seen I was coming right back," Bradley said.

According to police, on July 9, Bradley approached Jeannine Smith outside her Hill District home asking if her 3-month-old son could be in a Huggies commercial.

"I thought it was too good to be true, but didn't want to pass up the opportunity for a kid," Smith said.

The two drove the child to Walmart in Uniontown.

That's where Smith was told that her son couldn't be in the commercial because he had six fingers, but that he could be in a movie that was being filmed the next morning.

Smith and her son spent the night with Bradley at the Heritage Inn.

When smith stepped-out to the store, Bradley allegedly took off with her son.

Police found them minutes later.

Since the beginning, Bradley has denied any attempt at kidnapping.

State police think there may be more to this story.

"There is the possibility that there are several other females involved in the kidnapping scheme that may come out at a later date," Trp. Stefani Plume said.

Bradley told police last week she had a miscarriage and saw this as an opportunity to give her love to another child.

Bradley's new hearing is scheduled for July 24.
