StateCollege.com Editor Doubts Penn State Will Get Death Penalty

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) -- KDKA Radio's Mike Pintek talks with Ron Musselman, editor-in-chief of StateCollege.com, about Penn State and what kinds of penalties the university will face from the NCAA.

He doesn't think Penn State will get the death penalty.

"If Penn State did get hit with the death penalty I wouldn't be stunned – I just don't think it will happen," he said.

"I think they're going to get some serious sanctions – maybe a bowl ban, maybe wins taken away … I mean Penn State makes $53 million in football the last time they filed their expenses – that's a lot of money.

"It would really cut in – I'm not making any excuses for Penn State - they should be banned, they should get a severe penalty," he continued.

Musselman says he believes a lot of people in State College are still in denial, but some minds are changing.

For example, he says there's a growing number of people who want Joe Paterno's statue in front of Beaver Stadium taken down.

"But I noticed since the Freeh Report, there's a lot less Joe Paterno apologists and there's been a lot of anger," he said.

Listen to Mike Pintek weekdays from noon to 3 p.m. on NewsRadio 1020 KDKA.
