DERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Storms were chock full of lightning as they passed through the area.

There are a handful of reports of lightning strikes, including in Westmoreland County.

Lighting touched off a fire at a natural gas well along Route 982 in Derry Township.

The Post-Gazette tells KDKA-TV the lighting struck a holding tank next to the well – not the well itself.

The fire is out.

The DEP will inspect the area Thursday since the contents of the tank were released.
