PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — MLB Network Analyst Eric Byrnes joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN in Pittsburgh to own up to his preseason prediction on the Pirates odds of making the playoffs.
Byrnes joined us back in March and gave the Pirates a 4 percent chance of winning the division, and said it looks like that 4 percent is going to pay off.
The reason the Pirates fell apart last season, according to Byrnes, was because the pitching went downhill in the second half, but he doesn’t really see that happening again this year.
Byrnes also said the biggest difference though is that they now have the best player in the National League in Andrew McCutchen.
