Carrick Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault on Monday in Carrick.

According to police, the incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 600-block of Brownsville Road.

A 15-year-old girl was walking when a man confronted her and started a conversation. He then allegedly grabbed her by the arm, led her to St. Vianney Cemetery and sexually assaulted her.

The girl was able to take the suspect’s wallet and fled to her home, where her mother called 911.

Police began their investigation at the cemetery where they spotted the suspect sleeping and took him into custody.

He has been identified as Mark Mason Jr., 39, of Turtle Creek.

Mason was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and is facing charges of rape, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
