MCKEESPORT (KDKA) — There’s good news concerning a litter of puppies that was trapped inside an abandoned home in McKeesport.

Officials tell KDKA-TV seven puppies have been rescued from the house. People living along Jenny Lind Street heard the dogs yelping.

When animal control officers arrived, the pups’ mother was hiding under the front porch. They managed to get her out, but the puppies were trapped under floorboards in the basement.

Animal control officers were worried the house could collapse on top of them, but traps helped round-up the puppies overnight.

They’re doing well and are with their mother at a shelter.
