Pirates' McKenry On Fan Support: I've Seen Guys Get Tears In Their Eyes

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Pirates catcher Michael McKenry joined Bob Pompeani on 93.7 The Fan Saturday to talk about the team's recent success and his growing role in it.

He said the fan support during this team's magical run has had a strong effect on the players.

"It kind of chokes me up a little bit, how many standing ovations we've seen. I've seen guys get tears in their eyes," McKenry said.

He acknowledged that he's been working hard to have his role increase- which it has- but he said that he and co-catcher Rod Barajas have kept their focus amidst the competition.

"We're going to continue to do our jobs, play defense first, and then let the bat do what it can when it can," McKenry said.
