SEWICKLEY (KDKA) — The timeless folk songs of Peter, Paul and Mary have been handed down from one generation to another.

Someday, the same might be said of Peter Yarrow’s children’s books.

The co-author of “Puff, the Magic Dragon,” 50 years ago, went on to sell more than a million copies of those lyrics in a picture book.

He has followed up with a second book based on the old English Nursery Rhyme and folk song, “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring.”

Yarrow performed, and signed copies, for a standing-room-only audience at Penguin Bookshop in Sewickley.

“I’m so proud to be able to expose this music to the next generation,” he says. “Because when these kids sing together, they become really good friends, right?” A young boy nods. “You knew all the words, perfectly.”

To prove his point, a little girl sings lines from “Puff,” right down to that mythical “land called Honalee.”
