Local Contestants Develop 'Big Brother' Showmance

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two Pittsburghers are in the spotlight on the CBS reality show "Big Brother."

There are hints of an unlikely romance in the making.

Self-described engineering geek Ian Terry, a student at Tulane, and beautiful "spray tanner" Ashley Iocco, now in Los Angeles, have been seeing a lot of each other in early episodes.

Ashley graduated from Franklin Regional High School and Ian is a graduate of Shaler Area High. Yet they never met, until they stepped onto that studio lot in Los Angeles.

Franklin Regional senior Nicole Lockwood likes seeing her school in the spotlight. "I think it's really cool," she says, "because it's not like Franklin Regional's not always in the news. So it's nice to see."

Fellow senior Jonathan Palmer agrees. "Franklin Regional does a really good job of training us for the real world and just that representation makes me feel good."

Ian Terry hails from Shaler Township, where neighbors John and Arlene Clemente watched the boy grow up.

"I used to see him getting off the school buses every day," John says, "and he looks like a very intelligent person. And I was not surprised to see him on the show."

Are they Ashley and Ian courting or conniving? Arlene sees the glass half full.

"You know opposites attract."
