4 Children Injured In Lawrence County ATV Crash

NESHANNOCK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Two children remain hospitalized and two others have been treated and released following an ATV crash in Lawrence County.

The accident happened just after 4 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area along the 100-block of Fireside Drive in Neshannock Township.

"Police were on scene first," Neshannock Police Lt. John Rand said. "There was numerous neighbors carrying children out of the woods."

According to Neshannock Township police, the four boys were riding ATVs along the private property when they ran into each other.

Two 10-year-olds, a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old were reportedly involved.

"What we understand, each quad had two kids on it," Rand said. "Somehow they were riding together, but they ended up hitting head-on on one of the trails."

The kids were wearing helmets, but suffered head and facial injuries.

Police say two of the boys were taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital where they were treated and released.

The two other boys were transported by medical helicopter to Children's Hospital.

Police say one remains in the intensive care unit there, and the other was last listed in stable condition.
