MILLVALE (KDKA) — Friends and loved ones of a young woman killed in a freak accident on the Parkway West came out for her viewing in Millvale.

Katie Puwalowski, 19, died from her injuries after a tire from a Jeep Cherokee bounced into her path late Monday night.

“She was an angel, you know,” Matt Puwalowski, her brother, said. “We were openly big on our faith and everything you struggle to do every day to make you a good person seemed to come natural to her.”

The Saint Vincent College sophomore was coming home from Pittsburgh International Airport where she had just picked up her boyfriend.

“I wouldn’t wish this on anyone else, really,” Puwalowski said. “I truly wouldn’t. I tell people, ‘Be thankful for what you have’ because I was just eating dinner with her and six hours later I’m going to the hospital.”

The family is trying not to be angry about what happened on the parkway.

“We’re big on our faith and deep down in our faith teaches to kind of like let go of your anger,” he said.
