NEW CASTLE (KDKA) — Police continue to investigate following an overnight shooting at an Elks Club in Lawrence County.

The shots rang out around 1:50 a.m. at the club on Moravia Street in New Castle.

The New Castle Police Department has identified the victim as 36-year-old Marcus Smith. He was found lying in the parking lot suffering from several gunshot wounds.

According to police, an officer who was in the area of the club reported hearing several gunshots.

When police arrived at the scene, authorities say they encountered a large crowd of people trying to get out of the parking lot.

There’s no word on the victim’s condition, but the investigation continues.
