Pitching Coach Talks Impact Of Starters A.J. Burnett, Erik Bedard

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Pirates Pitching Coach Ray Searage talked with Joe Starkey of Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN in Pittsburgh to talk about everything from Erik Bedard's outstanding start Monday night, to the team not retaliating against the Reds.

Searage also talked about the impact A.J. Burnett has had this year, and admitted they expected him to be good, but never this good.

When it came to not retaliating against the Reds this past weekend after several Pirates were hit by pitches, Searage said the biggest thing to them was getting James McDonald back on track and coming out of that series with at least one win, not getting even with the Reds.

Being an old school baseball type though, Searage did admit that back in the day, nobody said anything to you about hitting players, you just did it, and he expects the Pirates to keep with the Reds did in the back of their minds for when they meet again.

Searage wrapped things up talking about the upcoming spot-start for Kevin Correia, and what they're expecting from him after being taken out of the rotation when the team acquired Wandy Rodriguez.
