MCKEES ROCKS (KDKA) — Rescuers pulled the victim of an ATV accident to safety after his quad apparently flipped.

It happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday in the woods behind Montour High School.

Monica Hinda was at girl’s soccer practice when the emergency vehicles arrived.

“We were on the lower fields and we were just going through normal practice … we were all just kind of talking and then we all noticed like a fire truck came in, emergency vehicles … and the ambulance – they all came up by our football field,” she said.

Students who witnessed the rescue say the cross country trails in that wooded area are also popular paths for ATV riders.

Those witnesses say the young man suffered a leg injury. He was taken to the hospital.
