PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Joy is mixed with anger at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital following an emotional reunion between a mother and her kidnapped baby.

For five hours, three-day-old Bryce Coleman was missing – snatched from his hospital crib. He was reunited with his mother, Rhonda King, Thursday night.

“I’m so nervous right now, but I’m happy,” Tamika Henley, the baby’s aunt, said. “Praise God! The baby’s back home safe.”

The search for baby Bryce ended at the Investment Building on Fourth Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh.

The baby was okay, and his mother’s prayers were answered.

“She’s doing great. She’s just happy to see her baby,” Talesha Woodson, the baby’s aunt, said. “God answered our prayers and we thank everyone who prayed and everyone who searched for the baby.”

Police arrested 19-year-old Breona Moore, of McKeesport, who’s accused of kidnapping the baby. Witnesses say she bought a surgical scrub outfit and identified herself as a nurse when she allegedly grabbed the baby.

The family has no sympathy for her.

“I think she needs to be locked up,” Woodson said. “I don’t know what her issue is. This was my nephew. This was somebody’s baby that she took.”

Normally when a baby is born at Magee-Womens Hospital, an ankle bracelet is placed on the baby. The bracelet has a chip inside it.

If the baby is removed, it sets off all kinds of alarms. In this instance, the ankle bracelet was removed because the baby was about to be discharged.

UPMC says they are reviewing security measures at the hospital where nearly 100,000 babies are born each year.
