Beaver Falls 19-Year-Old Injured In Lawrence Co. Crash

NORTH BEAVER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A 19-year-old suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident late Saturday night in Lawrence County.

The crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. on State Route 18 between State Route 168 and Halltown Road in North Beaver Township.

According to state police, the Chevrolet Cobalt was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver, identified by authorities as 20-year-old Joshua Lagala of Wampum, lost control of the vehicle.

State police say the car then crossed into the northbound lane and then onto the side of the road where it hit a guide rail several times.

The passenger, identified as 19-year-old Ashley Skiles of Beaver Falls, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered major injuries, state police said.

She was taken by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, for treatment. There's no word on her condition.

State police say the driver was taken into police custody. He was not injured.

The investigation continues and state police say charges are pending.
