Panther Hollow: Chryst Addresses Press Before Pitt Debut

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Welcome to Panther Hollow, which is not just a place, but, for Pitt fans, a state of mind. With them in mind, we present this brand new source for the latest, greatest Pitt football content that can't be seen or heard anywhere else.

Our new blog will begin with a few words from the new man on campus. Paul Chryst talked to the media at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex on the South Side in preparation for his first game as Pitt head coach, in which the Panthers host Youngstown State at Heinz Field Saturday.

Chryst thinks his team, through all the bumps and bruises of camp, is as ready as can be to face the Penguins.

"We got a lot of things accomplished, and yet there's nothing like the start of a season," he said. "That's one of the neat things, I think, about college football...you've got transitions, and obviously, here, we get a little bit more transition."

After his struggles last season, the spotlight on third-year starting quarterback Tino Sunseri will be intense. Chryst discussed his progress throughout camp, and the health of two of his top receivers, Devin Street and Mike Shanahan.

Speaking of the health of his offense, Chryst also gave us an update on injured tailback Ray Graham, who is still on the mend from last year's season-ending knee injury, but recently participated in contact drills for the first time since.
