Football Season Kicks Off With Annual Kickoff & Rib Festival

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Football season has officially arrived.

The Coors Light Kickoff and Rib Festival is underway and there's plenty of football, food and fun for fans of all ages.

The festival got underway at noon and runs through the Labor Day weekend.

Here is the schedule:

  • Thursday, Aug. 30: Noon to Midnight
  • Friday, Aug. 31: Noon to Midnight
  • Saturday, Sept. 1: Noon to Midnight
  • Sunday, Sept. 2: 9 a.m. to Midnight
  • Monday, Sept. 3: Noon to 7 p.m.

The football highlights include tonight's final preseason game for the Steelers. They take on the Carolina Panthers starting at 7 p.m.

Then, on Saturday, the Pitt Panthers open their 2012 football season at 6 p.m. against Youngstown State University.

Ribfest also features world-renowned rib vendors and several concerts throughout the weekend.

The concerts will kick off Friday night with The Clarks at 7:30 p.m. at Heinz Field and wrap up on Monday when Uncle Kracker takes the stage at Heinz Field starting at 4 p.m.

There will also be several youth football camps, the chance to meet Steelers' mascot Steely McBeam and the Gatorade/Steelers 5K will be held Sunday at 9 a.m.
