Panther Hollow: A New Twist On Midnight Madness

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- And now, in the timeless words of Monty Python, for something completely different...

For the first time in nine years, Midnight Madness returns to the Petersen Events Center during Pitt homecoming weekend Oct. 12, but this year's season-opening basketball event will have a most unique setting.

The school announced Wednesday afternoon the Panthers' men's and women's teams will stage activities and promotions 9:00-11:00 P.M. that Friday night on an outdoor court constructed along Bigelow Boulevard, between the Cathedral of Learning and the William Pitt Union.

The 2012-13 men's squad welcomes nationally-renown recruit Steven Adams and returns three starters, while the women's team, featuring Big East All-Freshman Team honoree Brianna Kiesel, returns four.

Midnight Madness will be followed by the football team's homecoming game at Heinz Field against Big East rival Louisville at a time to be announced, a game that will be heard on SportsRadio 93.7 The Fan, your flagship home for Pitt football and men's basketball.
