Melvin Knight Sends Plea Letter To Judge

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) --- As Melvin Knight was fighting for his life at the courthouse for the last two weeks, he was apparently planning for his future back at the jail.

Knight wrote a letter to the court asking to marry his co-defendant and fiancé who testified against him.

The letter was handwritten by Melvin Knight and mailed from the jail on Tuesday.

don't remember another case that involved that as an aggravating circumstance in my 30 years in DA's office," Westmoreland County District Attorney, John Peck says.

Melvin Knight will be moved to the State Correctional Facility at Rockview where he will be the 203rd inmate on death row in Pennsylvania.

Amber Meidinger will remain at the Westmoreland County Jail as she awaits trial.

Meidinger could also face the death penalty if convicted.
