PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A fired-up Mitt Romney entered the convention hall to accept his party’s nomination — and reinvigorate the Republican quest for the White House.

“I accept your nomination for President of the United States,” Romney told the cheering delegates.

Romney first focused on his family –  which went over well with local viewers.

“I think what it did was it humanized him a lot because the ads have been bashing him as a heartless kind of guy –  a lot of that showed that he’s not.  I think it did the job it was supposed to do,” said Chuck Correal of Peters.

Romney promised to create 12 million jobs with a five-part plan.

“He is definitely a hopeful change for America.  That is something I am looking forward to,” said Lindi McCaffrey of Mt. Lebanon.

“As president, I’ll protect the sanctity of life and I’ll honor the institution of marriage,” Romney told delegates as he reaffirmed his pro-life and anti-gay marriage views.

Romney then ridiculed the President’s environmental positions.

“President Obama promised to slow the rise of the oceans and to heal the planet.  My promise is to help you and your family,” Romney says.

While strong, some viewers liked that he wasn’t nasty.

“I was happy he didn’t get on the Obama administration too much,” noted Kevin Clarke of Hookstown.

And Romney had a pointed question for Obama voters.

“You know there’s something wrong with the kind of job he’s done as President when the best feeling you had was when you voted for him,” Romney says.

“I thought it was very good and very encouraging.  I was uplifted by it,” said Cecelia Slat of Hampton.
