Authorities Identify Body Found In Wilkinsburg, Rule Death A Homicide

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There are new details as authorities continue to investigate the discovery of a body in Wilkinsburg.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office says the man's death has now been ruled a homicide.

The Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 22-year-old of George Cox, Jr. of Pittsburgh. He died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

Cox's body was found Saturday afternoon in the overgrown backyard of an abandoned home on Sherman Street.

On Saturday, Allegheny County Assistant Police Superintendent James Morton said there have been so many gunshots in the neighborhood recently; it's hard to say for certain when the victim may have been killed.

It's the 10th homicide in Wilkinsburg in 2012.
