ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — A local township Commissioner has been reprimanded over controversial messages sent from his cell phone.

Although received anonymously, KDKA-TV received a fax from a source that says Gene Francesconi, President of the Elizabeth Township Board of Commissioners sent vulgar, racist and inappropriate pictures and texts from his cell phone.

At the Elizabeth Township Municipal Building, township manager Aaron Sukenik says he believed that the matter was resolved and letters of reprimand were dispatched.

Sukenik also believes that the municipalities’ rules were clarified regarding legal responsibility and social media with their solicitor.

Gene Francesconi, who was elected to the Board of Commissioners last year, says it was a personnel issue and therefore he was not going to say anymore.

The picture allegedly sent from Francesconi’s personal cell phone features of naked African American women. One of those text messages refers to a sex act.
