Clairton Home Condemned, Children Removed

CLAIRTON (KDKA) --- Clairton neighbors say they have "the creeps" after what they found out about their neighbor's home.

"There were roaches upon roaches. It's the worst I've ever seen," Clairton Sergeant Joe Giles says.

Roaches were just one of the problems at a home on Waddell Avenue in Clairton.

Police describe a disgusting, unsanitary mess.

"There was rotten food on the table and dog feces on the floor," Sgt Giles says.

Two adults and four children have been tossed out of their home after Clairton police condemned the residence.

The family will not be allowed to return to the home until it is cleaned out.

"I'll do regular inspections and make sure everything is up to code," Clairton Code Enforcement Officer George Glagola says.

The children living in the home age from toddler to pre-teen. Youth and family services removed the children, who are now in custody of their grandparents.

In the meantime, neighbors say this situation doesn't come at a complete shock.

"They are not the cleanest people in the world," neighbor Janet Forkey says.

Clairton police say they will likely file charges against the parents, including endangering the welfare of children.
