Greg Amsinger On Pirates Coming Down Stretch
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) --- Greg Amsinger joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN in Pittsburgh to talk about the Pirates coming down the stretch, as well as the Nationals shutting down pitching ace Stephen Strasburg.
Amsinger provided us with his own personal speculation on the Nationals deciding to shut down Stephen Strasburg after 180 innings pitched this year, saying this has never happened before in sports history and to him, "for them to shut Stephen Strasburg down tells me something...this is a Scott Boras power play."
In Amsinger's opinion, Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo decided to go against the grain of what many GM's do and marry himself to super-agent Scott Boras. The Nationals have several Boras clients on their roster and Amsinger added "Scott Boras admitted that he put this roster together with Mike Rizzo."
We also get into the Pirates season as they come down the wire, and Amsinger said they're not going to be in the playoffs, but they are going to be .500, which is good, and Pirates fans should be happy about this.
