Suspicious Downtown Package Deemed Safe

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Bomb Squad was called to the scene of a suspicious package in downtown Pittsburgh Wednesday morning.

According to officials at the scene, the duffel bag was found near the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Grant Street around 6:15 a.m.

Police blocked off an area from Liberty Avenue and Grant Street to Liberty Avenue and Seventh Street as a precaution.

However, after crews examined the bag, it was determined that it only contained clothes and posed no threat.

Police have since cleared the scene and the roads and sidewalks are open.
