Woman Charged In Crash That Killed Sister In Parks Township

PARKS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- There are new developments in a deadly car crash that happened nearly six months ago.

Police now say drugs and alcohol played a role in a crash that brought a bachelorette party to a tragic end.

The bride-to-be from that party has now been charged in her sister's death.

Nicole Dibler, 26, died in March when the car that her sister, Michelle, was driving went off the road and into the Kiski River.

Police say Michelle Dibler was behind the wheel and that test results showed she had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit and had marijuana in her system.

Back on March 19th, the car the two were driving in the early morning hours went off of River Road in Parks Township, Armstrong County.

The car went upside down into the Kiski River, killing Nicole Dibler.

An autopsy revealed she died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

"Just a lot of crucial evidence that needed to be pieced together, time consuming investigation, gathering of reports, toxicology reports, coroner's reports, the car's accident reconstruction report – it's a time-consumer process," State Trooper Timothy Amy said. "We finally got everything that we needed to proceed. We had a conference yesterday with District Attorney Scott Andreassi."

Michelle Dibler has been charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter, as well as other reckless driving charges.

She was taken to the Armstrong County Jail where she's being held on $25,000 cash bond.
