Woman Charged In Crash That Killed Sister Waives Hearing

LEECHBURG (KDKA) -- A woman charged in the car accident that killed her sister waived her preliminary hearing.

Michelle Dibler, 23, has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter in the death of her sister, Nicole Dibler.

"Incredibly sad," Armstrong County District Attorney Scott Andreassi said. "You not only have the death of an individual we believe as the result of alcohol involvement, but it's her sister."

It happened in the early morning hours of March 18th in Parks Township. The sisters were on their way home from Michelle's bachelorette party.

Michelle allegedly lost control on a curve and ended up in the Kiski River. Her 26-year-old sister was her passenger. Her body was later recovered from the vehicle. She died from blunt force trauma.

Michelle was getting married the following Saturday and Nicole was her maid of honor.

"Well, it makes the case that much more difficult," Andreassi said. "We'll obviously be sitting down with the family who not only lost a daughter but now have a daughter who's been charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI."

Lab results confirmed that Michelle had alcohol and marijuana in her system.

Michelle Dibler has no previous criminal record.
