BELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — The family of a 15-month-old who was bitten in the head by a dog has asked Children’s Hospital not to release any information on the girl’s condition.

However, a family member tells KDKA-TV that the girl, whose name is Hayley, was at her grandparent’s home in Bell Township, Westmoreland County, when the attack happened.

She says that the dog is a 3-year-old Lab-Boxer mix and has always been good around children.

The family member did not know the details of how exactly it happened, or how the child is doing now.

She says the dog belongs to a family who is staying at the home and that he feels horribly about what happened.

The girl was taken by paramedics and then flown to Children’s Hospital.

Police were called to the home, but did not file a report because the bite happened inside a personal home and because of the nature of the girl’s injuries.
