CROSS CREEK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — An Avella man is dead following a motorcycle crash late Wednesday night in Washington County.

State police say the accident happened just after 11:30 p.m. on Cross Creek Road at Paris Road in Cross Creek Township.

According to investigators, 48-year-old Randy Loughry was headed south on Cross Creek Road when he lost control of the motorcycle and traveled off the road.

Loughry suffered severe injuries when he was then thrown from the motorcycle and hit a utility pole, state police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Coroner’s Office.

State police say he was not wearing a helmet.
