Weekend Drivers To Face Construction On Routes 19, 28, 65

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Drivers will run into some road projects over the weekend.

The inbound lanes of Route 28 will be closed at Millvale until 5 a.m. Monday.

"It's a very simple detour, simply going to exit off at Millvale, travel through Millvale, and then reenter southbound Route 28 on the other side of the interchange," PennDOT District 11 spokesman Jim Struzzi said.

Police will be there to help keep traffic moving through the detour; however, expect delays, especially Saturday afternoon when people will be traveling into the city for the Pitt game.

Crews will continue work on Route 19 between McFarland Road and the Parkway West. Traffic will be reduced to single lane in each direction all weekend. Work is expected to wrap up by the morning rush on Monday.

Drivers will get somewhat of a break on Saturday.

"We will be coordinating those restrictions to minimize impacts on people attending the Pitt game, so essentially, when you're coming into the Pitt game, we'll lift those restrictions," Struzzi said.

PennDOT will also eliminate the restrictions at the end of the game.

In Sewickley, crews will be working on the stretch of road between Route 65 and the Sewickley Bridge.

There will be single lane, alternating traffic through 6 a.m. Monday.

"People should really expect to encounter delays in that area, we need to get this work done, it's been postponed before, so we are going to try and get that work done this weekend."
