Man Charged With Assault Of Teenager Met On Facebook

WASHINGTON TWP. (KDKA) – A man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a teenage girl he met through Facebook.

According to police, the alleged incident happened on Sept. 21 in a wooded area off of Sloan Road in Washington Township, Armstrong County.

The suspect has been identified as Justin Hooks, 23, of Kittanning.

Hooks spoke with the alleged 16-year-old victim through Facebook and text messages and arranged a meeting.

On Friday, Hooks picked up the 16-year-old girl and her 15-year-old female friend at their homes in Sarver.

Before heading to a wooded area of Washington Township to go camping, the group stopped to buy alcohol, shot glasses food and a tent.

Once they arrived at the campsite, the group began drinking. Soon after, Hooks began taking inappropriate pictures of the two girls and engaged in unwanted sexual acts.

"As the night went on, a little more intoxicated, he got more intoxicated supposedly and then it turned towards sexual in nature," State Trooper Tom Dubovi said.

The girls told Hooks they were not interested in doing anything sexual, but Hooks allegedly then touched them inappropriately.

At that time, the girls fled into the woods for about three hours and called a friend, who called police.
"They attempted to leave, but when they attempted to leave, they didn't have any shoes on and they were a mile and a half, two miles back in the woods and had no idea on how to get out of there," Dubovi said.

The girls returned to the campsite because they were afraid of getting lost in the woods and agreed to try and sleep in the tent.

Hooks allegedly made another sexual advance toward the 16-year-old girl at that time.

Details of his arrest have not been released, but Hooks is being charged with aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to minors.

He has been placed in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
