CANTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — The manhunt continues in Washington County for a Canton Township man accused of kidnapping and raping his estranged girlfriend.

State police received a tip that 40-year-old John Gallo was in the Moore Road area in Washington.

They searched the woods for hours. Police found his car, but no sign of the suspect.

Gallo allegedly forced the 33-year-old into a car at a motel and drove around threatening to kill her. Police say he later sexually assaulted her back at her room.

Monday morning, after forcing her into the car again, she jumped out of the vehicle on Route 40 east.

Gallo is charged with violating a protection from abuse order.

Trooper Stefani Plume told KDKA’s Kym Gable Gallo may be armed. They are asking residents to stay on alert.
