Caped Crusader Brightens Patients' Days At Children's Hospital
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A black Lamborghini, transformed into a Batmobile, pulls up to the front of Children's Hospital.
The Caped Crusader who emerges is actually Baltimore businessman Lenny Robinson. His costume and his manner bring smiles to hospitalized youngsters nationwide.
"These are official Batman crayons," he says, handing crayons and a coloring book to a young patient. But the gifts he brings aren't limited to coloring books and crayons.
"A lot of it's up here mentally," he says, tapping his forehead. "If I can lift their spirits, and brighten their lives, I'm helping out in my way"
The Batman from Baltimore says he was inspired by his son, 11 years ago.
"My son, when he was little, was obsessed with Batman and his obsession became my obsession. And the next thing you know, I'm going around with a Batman costume. And we went to the hospital. And it just snowballed."
He's walked miles of hallways, and entered countless hospital rooms, in the years that followed. Though he often meets with sadness, the Dark Knight rises to every occasion.
"At the end of the day," he says, "you ask yourself, 'Self, did I make a difference?'"
