5-Month-Old Baby Found Safe, Mother Faces Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A missing 5-month-old baby was found in Homewood early Wednesday morning and the mother is now facing charges.

According to police, a CYF case worker tried to get custody of 5-month -ld Ariah Waller from her mother, 24-year-old Ashley Waller.

However, Waller allegedly attacked the worker, choking and kicking her, before taking off with the baby.

The altercation happened at about 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at a women's shelter.

Waller and her daughter were found just after midnight at a home on Tioga Street in Homewood. Waller was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and her daughter went to Children's Hospital to be checked out.

The 5-month-old is expected to be okay.

Waller is facing a list of charges including aggravated assault and interfering with the custody of children.
