SQUIRREL HILL (KDKA) — Two men remain in the Allegheny County Jail today accused in a purse snatching in Squirrel Hill that set off a pursuit Wednesday afternoon around rush hour.
According to police, the robbery happened in the 1900-block of Murray Avenue in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle in Squirrel Hill.
Authorities have identified the suspects as 36-year-old Christopher David of McKees Rocks and 35-year-old Eric Gordon of Esplen.
Both are facing charges of robbery and conspiracy.
Investigators say the victim reported that she was loading groceries into the trunk of her vehicle when she was approached by a man. The two reportedly struggled, the woman fell to the ground and the man got away with her purse.
Officials say a vehicle matching a description they received at the scene was spotted stuck in rush hour traffic in Pittsburgh’s Oakland section. However, when police tried to approach it, the driver reportedly turned the vehicle and tried to get away.
Both men got out and police eventually found one hiding in some bushes and the other in a second-floor bathroom at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association.
David and Gordon were being held in the Allegheny County Jail following their arrests.
