PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Runners will take their marks bright and early Sunday morning for the 35th running of the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race.

The 10K run begins at 9:30 a.m. in Frick Park.

Runners will race down Forbes Avenue, Fifth Avenue and the Boulevard of the Allies toward the finish in Point State Park.

That follows the start of the 5K run at Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street in Oakland at 8 a.m. It follows the same route to the finish line.

It’s estimated that 15,000 participants will take part in the event.

Ahead of the race, runners came together Saturday to power up.

It’s a tradition for many who take part in the Great Race.

The annual Pasta Party was held at the Spaghetti Warehouse in the Strip District where runners got to chow down on the carbs they’ll need for the race.
