SHALER (KDKA) – One person was killed and another was injured in an early Sunday morning accident in Shaler.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the accident happened on Route 8 near McDonald’s around 2 a.m.

A vehicle being driven by Gianluca Cresta, 41, of O’Hara, lost control and eventually crashed. Cresta was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger was injured and was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. The extent of her injuries are unknown, but she is expected to survive.

It is unknown what led to the accident at this time.
