DONEGAL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — One person was killed in an overnight accident in Westmoreland County.

The crash happened just before 3 a.m. on Route 31 in Donegal Township.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 22-year-old Ralph Skovira of Donegal. He died from multiple blunt force trauma and thermal injuries.

According to the Coroner’s Office, Skovira was headed east on Route 31 when his vehicle crossed over the center line, went off the road and hit a utility pole and some trees.

The vehicle rolled onto its passenger side and then burst into flames.

Skovira was pronounced dead at the scene around 4:15 a.m.

Accident reconstruction teams closed Route 31 for several hours this morning while they investigated.
