"Pittsburgh Dad" Creators Talk About New Kennywood Video

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –"Pittsburgh Dad" has explored our city, and its quirks, from one end to the other.

But the Kennywood episode demanded extra attention. The long awaited segment went on YouTube Tuesday morning.

"I'm gonna give yinz each $10 for the whole day," says the "Dad" character, as the episode opens. "And I don't want you losing it. So put it in a baggy in your sock."

Actor Curt Wootton and producer/photographer Chris Preksta taped the eight minute segment in three day hot summer days at Kennywood Park.

"We knew going into this episode that it was going to be one of our longest episodes," Wootton says, "because Kennywood was the most demanded and most requested episode that we've had."

While the average episode has about 40 jokes, Preksta says this one had 500.

"Not only did we keep coming up with stuff while we were writing it, fans submitted so many jokes, and when we were actually at the park we would spot stuff and say, 'oh we have to do something about that,'" he said.

"Pittsburgh Dad" is a low budget operation. As a matter of fact, Preksta shoots every segment on his cell phone.

Curt Wootton says his own dad serves as inspiration.

"My dad liked Kennywood," he said, "he liked going, but I guess kids can kind of get kind of expensive, and kind of a pain anywhere you go. So what you see is a lot of what actually happened to me."
