Fayette Co. Serial Burglar Strikes, Neighbors Horrified

REPUBLIC (KDKA) --- A teenager is suspected of breaking into two homes in Fayette County just two hours apart.

Residents in Republic, Fayette County say they are scared. One person says their family is moving away just to get away from it all.

"Half the time, I'm afraid to go fishing or anything—thinking my place is going to get broken into," says one neighbor.

State police say 18-year-old Obataiye Scott of Republic is behind two robberies within close vicinities of each other.

The first robbery happened between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night on Johnson Street.

Troopers say Scott broke in and stole a gaming console and video games.

The 18-year-old then waited until 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning to break into a home nearby where he started gaming consoles, money, jewelry and a SKS rifle.

The victims were inside their home when they woke up. Troopers say Scott then threatened to shoot them before he ran off.

"My kids—that is all I worry about," says one woman. Then you have to worry if they pull a gun."

Neighbors believe that more police activity in the area will help cut down on these crimes.
