Toby Keith's Country-Style Restaurant Coming To North Shore

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Another new business is coming to the North Shore. And this one will make country music fans happy, it's called "Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill."

Plans have been in the works to put one of these restaurants in Pittsburgh for a couple years.

In addition to offering large portions, it will also feature up and coming country music acts.

In the part of Gold Lot 2 that faces North Shore Drive, the signs for the proposed building have been up for a while; and now, it's about to happen, mirroring the DelMonte building across the street.

"This building will have great restaurants and fun places on the first floor and great offices above," said Barry Ford of Continental Development.

Anchoring the "eatertainment" on the first floor will be country singer Toby Keith's restaurant.

"The Toby Keith folks were after us and after us. Toby Keith is a big Steelers fan, and being part of the project they felt was important for them," said Ford.

Keith has designed a southern-style sports bar with its trademark red, white and blue guitar-shaped bar, enormous portions and live entertainment.

It's a facility meant to match the young appeal of Stage AE across the street.

"We wanted another venue that was entertainment-based, that offered a little different kind of music and great food, and a we think a country-based sports bar does that for us," Ford added.

Ford says they are negotiating with Burgatory to also locate there. They hope to finalize that deal before the end of the year.

"We'll have other 'eatertainment' venues here to announce shortly," he said.

The building will only take about half of Gold Lot 2. The portion that fronts on General Robinson Street will remain surface parking.
