Mich. Firefighter Faces Charges For Alleged PA Rape

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 50-year-old lieutenant in the Grand Rapids, Mich. Fire Department could be extradited to Pennsylvania as early as next week to face a rape charge in Beaver County.

Lee Finlayson is a veteran of more than 20 years with the fire service.

Finlayson is accused of raping a woman last month at her home in Brighton Township.

She went to the Brighton police station earlier this month, telling police that Finlayson forced her to have sex with him and he would not let her leave the bedroom, trying to convince her that he thought she was playing.

A criminal complaint states that Finlayson, back home in Michigan, later reportedly texted the woman, "think I've been cruel enough to you already for 10 lifetimes. I [raped] you, and I can't get it out of my head."

Last year, the American Legion in Grand Rapids honored Finlayson as its "Firefighter of the Year."
