PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police in Beaver County had to use a Taser on a man more than five times, to get him under control.

He’s now in jail on $1 million bond.

Rochester Township Police responded to a complaint about a party at a house on Center Street.

One man, 23-year-old Deon James Durant, tried to hide in a closet. When police ordered him to come out, there was a scuffle.

Police say Durant grabbed and officer by the shirt and slammed him into a wall.

Another officer tried to stun him with a Taser, but it had no effect.

Durant is 6 feet 3 inches tall and 286 pounds.

Officers say he was high on methamphetamine.

Another officer hit him with a Taser again, but it had no effect.

Police say they continued to tase him two more times before he ran out of the house and down Center Street.

Durant ran into the woods and down a hillside, eventually falling on his face. An officer ran behind him and tackled him in a creek.

They wrestled in the mud until three more officers arrived – Durant was then tased a fifth time and police had to use three pairs of handcuffs to bring him under control.

No officers were seriously injured, but police are seeking $1,100 in restitution for damaged uniforms and equipment.

Durant was already wanted for a probation violation.

He’s charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness. He’s being held at the Beaver County Jail.
