Police Identify Suspect In Squirrel Hill Bank Robbery, Chase

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police have identified the suspect arrested Wednesday in connection with a bank robbery and brief chase through Squirrel Hill.

Authorities say he is 18-year-old Yamin Harris. His last known addresses are listed as the West End and East Liberty.

According to investigators, Harris is accused in the Wednesday morning robbery of the First National Bank on Murray Avenue.

Shortly after the robbery, police received a 911 call about a suspicious man hiding in some bushes on Beacon Street. When police responded to the scene, the suspect took off on foot.

Police quickly spotted him and began a pursuit.

The stolen money was found in the driveway of the home where the suspect was initially hiding. Authorities say a gun and some marijuana were also recovered when police took him into custody.

A police car crashed during the chase, but the officer is okay.

Harris was treated for a leg injury.
